Self Will Run Riot

September 30, 2012 by annon

So our troubles, we think, are basically of our own making. They arise out of ourselves, and the alcoholic is an extreme example of self-will run riot, though he usually doesn’t think so.

I think of the clichéd admonition, “Never fool yourself … and remember you are the easiest to fool!”

This is why having a sponsor and sponsoring others is so important. It increases the odds one can stay principled and NOT stay busy fooling oneself.

The AA cliché is “the slip happened long before the drink!” How true!

So what can you do today to stay open-minded to the reality in your life – good and bad? Flattering or unflattering?

Serve others.

The Pause When Agitated Blog says that happiness can be obtained through a full, rich, and sober lifestyle. By sober we mean no mind-alternating unprescribed chemicals. So, no pot.
