Wisdom – Good People Getting Better

The cliché you hear in AA is “we’re not bad people trying to get good, we’re sick people trying to get well!”

This may be the case, at least initially. But as time passes this often changes.

Anyone who is serious and sincere with working the steps will soon find himself or herself trying to be better on a daily basis.

AA’s often seek to become better friends, better spouses, better parents, better employee…and so on. Through this process, they often become wiser even if they fall short of the goal.

AA’s are not bad people getting good, but once rooted in recovery good people getting better

This act of conscious reflection and making appropriate behavioral changes is in many was the crux of the AA program.

The life of wisdom must be a life of contemplation combined with action. – M. Scott Peck
