“How long until I feel normal again?”
Everyone’s timeline is different, but most people start feeling significantly better after 30-90 days. Your brain and body are healing from the effects of alcohol.

“Do I really need meetings every day?”
Many people find daily meetings helpful in early recovery. You’re building new habits and surrounding yourself with people who understand what you’re going through.

“What if I relapse?”
Relapse doesn’t mean failure. Many people with long-term sobriety had false starts. What matters is getting back on track as quickly as possible.

Your 90-Day Checklist

  • □ Attend your first AA meeting –
    • Keep an Open Mind – don’t be critical or judgy.
  • □ Get phone numbers from other people in recovery
    • If you get the number, call them. Ask quesitons.
  • □ Find a temporary sponsor
  • □ Start reading recovery literature
    • The Big Book, Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions are essential.
  • □ Begin working Step 1
  • □ Establish a daily routine
    • Having a job is a good thing in early recovery!
  • □ Remove alcohol from your environment
  • □ Tell trusted people about your recovery
  • □ Find healthy activities to fill your time
  • □ Celebrate small milestones (7 days, 30 days, etc.)
